  • Montgomery County Senior Resource Line has information about most local services, including housing resources, benefits, help completing applications, caregiving and support groups: 240-777-30oo (Monday-Friday 8:30 – 5:00 and until 7:30 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.)
  • Senior Connection provides volunteer drivers and escorts to help seniors get to medical appointments, grocery stores, banks and pharmacies: 301-962-0820
  • Senior News provides periodic emails with information for seniors and caregivers. Go to the county’s home page, www.montgomerycountymd.gov, click on Online Services, select e-subscription and then Seniors and Caregivers.
  • The Seniors Page on the Montgomery County Library website: www.montgomerycountymd.gov/libraries for audio books, health research, events listings, games.

Resources for better health, community involvement and fitness in Montgomery County

  • Looking for fitness and activity programs? Call the county’s Recreation Department at 240-777-4980 or search online for programs near your home at www.activeoptions.org.
  • Senior Nutrition Hotline: the only program in the US that helps you speak directly with a registered dietitian on Wednesdays between 9 and 11 am for free: 240-777-1100
  • Volunteering keeps you involved and active. Visit Montgomery County’s Retired Senior and Volunteer Program’s website to find opportunities perfect for you, right in your own neighborhood. Click HERE for information on the local RSVP network, which is part of the nation-wide Senior Corps network of volunteers.
